Diet restrictions
Nothing to eat or drink for at least six hours, and preferably overnight, prior to your procedure.
Rest easy
You will receive local anesthetic or a sedative to make you more comfortable.
Starting procedure
Lie on your abdomen on an x-ray table.
Procedure details
The endoscope is passed through your mouth, esophagus, and stomach into your duodenum.
Recovery
After the procedure, you will be kept under observation until most effects of the sedative have worn off.
